This fall we will explore Bible stories. Join us October 14th – November 18th as we learn how we co-create with God, walk tow by two with the animals to the ark with Noah, face our fears and stand up to the giants in our lives with Davis and Goliath and learn through Jonah and the whale how we serve a God who gives us second chances. The epic stories found in our Old Testament are familiar to us regardless of how well we know the bible. Creation, Noah's Ark, Jonah and the Whale - are part of the fabric of our culture. Most of us learn these stories as children and learn a simple moral lesson.
Joseph and the Coat
Our Bible Story this week is about Joseph, his brothers and his father. His father's name is Jacob, and they lived in Canaan from where his grandfather was from. The lessons we learn from Joseph are about transformation. It’s the story of glory through suffering, exaltation through humiliation. It’s the story of the cross and the crown. This story shows us how through difficult and sometime seemingly impossible circumstances God keeps his covenant promises.
David and Goliath
This is the story of David. Even though David was young he knew what he could do with God’s help, in fact he knew better than King Saul. God chose David because God could see the goodness and strength in David’s heart. This is a great reminder to us all that it doesn’t matter what’s on the outside – how we look, how old we are, our disabilities, or even how others see us. It is more important what we are like on the inside – our attitudes, our yearning to know God better, our hopes, dreams and our relationship with God. David was able to face the giant because he lived without fear and trusted God. How do you face the giants in your life?
