Adult Learning

Our vision is to be a covenant community where no one stands alone. This vision can only be fulfilled as we learn to love one another, as Jesus loved us.

He took a band of common people and led them into an uncommon experience of life in relationship with one another. This involved a discipline of learning that transformed the quality of their lives. We follow Jesus’ example in helping others to learn how to live lives of greater meaning and purpose.

We offer several classes to enable adults to get more familiar with St. David's, our history, heritage, and faith:

Welcome and First Steps

All visitors and recent parishioners are welcome to attend a Welcome and First Steps Class, scheduled quarterly after the 10:45 service. The class lasts approximately two hours and lunch and childcare are provided. In addition to welcoming you to St. Davidʹs, this class will provide an overview of St. Davidʹs heritage, history, leadership, ministries and vision.

Next Class: To be scheduled

Episcopalian 101

This class explores the basics about our denomination, history and how we fit into the Christian church. Whether you are new or have been here a long time, join us for this discussion of who we are at St. David's Episcopal Church.

Next Class: Sunday, November 6, 12:15-1:45pm, in the Adult Education Room. Childcare provided.

Next Class: Sunday, November 13, 12:15-1:45pm, in the Adult Education Room. Childcare provided.

Worship 101

"Liturgy" is everything we do in worship on Sundays. Why do we do what we do, when we do it? This class will focus on explaining the meaning of each part of the worship service, and answer any questions on this most vital part of our life together in covenant community.

Next Class: Sunday, November 21, 12:15-1:45pm, in the Adult Education Room. Childcare provided.

Grounded in Love: An Introduction to Contemplative Prayer

May Christ "dwell in your hearts through faith, as you as being rooted and grounded in love." - Ephesians 3:17

Please join us as we explore the many forms of contemplative prayer. This six week series will focus on deepening our experience of God's presence while also facilitating our simple, open presence for God. Prayer forms include centering prayer, prayer with Taize songs, labyrinth prayer, praying with icons, praying with our imaginations, and prayer through body awareness.

Next Class: We begin with an initial retreat on October 1st in the Adult Education Room from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm. We continue on the following Sundays (except 10/16) through November 13th from 3:30 - 5:30 pm. Childcare is provided for the Sunday sessions.
