My apologies to parishioners and visitors who had to sit out in the Narthex on Easter morning at the 10:30 service. I am truly sorry. We hope to be a church that welcomes everyone. Despite our best efforts, when everyone shows up, it can be tough to be welcoming. I was briefed that we might have an overflow issue on Easter. In an attempt to "make room at the table" I asked that we initiate a 7:00 AM "Sunrise Service" as an option to early risers who preferred to avoid the crowd. We had a fair turn out for a first, early Easter morning Eucharist. It was a serene and simple and joyful. One surprise. The sun rising in the East blazed through our stained-glass window and scattered color along the wall. It was perfectly coordinated with the Easter floral display. It seemed a little extra grace for early morning folk. Thanks to Darrell Ackmann who warmed up the organ for us, at O-Dark Thirty. He played like the place was filled with angels. Also, thanks to Karen and Larry Hinkin, Allan Steed, Karen Powell, and Stacy Lynskey who provided lay support for the service. As far as the rest of the services went: The choir was stellar. The brass was transcendent. The Worship Band had the 5:00 o'clock congregation on their feet and moving. Discounting my regret for the people who had to sit in the Narthex, I thought the parish did a spectacular job celebrating the day of our Lord's Resurrection. Thank you everyone. |
