Rector's Blog: Back By Popular Demand

Well, after a summer-time break the Rector is back to his blog. A number of parishioners, as well as a couple friends from out of state, have been on me about getting back to blogging.

Recently our new Communications Director (David Kendrick) working with our Communications Teams (Bart Stevens, Rich and Katherine Goodwin) have brought the new website almost to completion.

Of course, a website is never, fully completed. It lives on the web. And like any other living thing, it will be constantly changing. Users of the site will find typos, spelling errors, grammatical traps and minor inaccuracies that will require regular attention. The important thing is that website provides a new structure that should help newcomers and parishioners alike learn more about our covenant community.

The new website has a new, user-friendly name: www.sdlife.org. In addition to descriptions of our many ministries, it includes "Happenings" window on the front page that provides up to the date news items of value to the parish.

We are also experimenting with "Workspace" pages that will enable ministry teams to work online and access information relevant to their ministries. For example, the Youth Ministry Team will be able to enter the SDLife Senior High Ministry Workspace and not only access up to date information on a Youth Event, but add input as well.

My hope is that www.sdlife.org, will become an increasingly useful ministry tool that will empower our parish leaders and improve our partnership in ministry.

If you have ideas on how we can improve the new site, by all means, let us know. After all, we are all in this thing together.
