Page 2 of 3 FAQs What is a Covenant Group? A safe place for men and women to share their lives and discover spiritual intimacy. It is NOT a therapy group or social club or fellowship. What happens in a Covenant Group meeting? The group observes a moment of silence. The leader prays and invites the group to check in with one another sharing a high-point and a low-point of the week. A discussion centered on a subject that rises out of "real life" follows. A reflection guide based on the previous Sunday's gospel is followed by all Covenant Groups. The group prays together. Some people pray aloud; others pray silently. Most Covenant Groups last between one and a half and two hours and have between five and 12 people present. Why should I be in a Covenant Group? We grow in our understanding of our commitment to Jesus and to each other. We learn to live out our mission. Pastoral care needs are addressed through the relationships that are formed. Our lives are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer becomes a way of life. We learn to love one another as we are learning to be loved by Jesus. We experience that at St. David’s “No One Stands Alone.” How Can I Join a Covenant Group? View a list of groups and leaders. |
