I have lived in Ashburn for 11 years with my husband, Jim, and our 2 children, Peter, 14, and Rachel, 11. When we moved to Ashburn, we started attending St David’s. I have been a life-long Episcopalian and I really loved the warmth that Father Stephen and St David’s had.

I have been a pharmacist for many years and I currently work at a long-term care pharmacy in Chantilly. We service residents in assisted-living facilities and nursing homes. I have also worked at Inova Loudoun Hospital, and at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). I think that, in addition to medication and modern medical techniques, spirituality and faith can play a significant role in the healing process for many people.

My family has belonged to a Shepherd Group for several years. We really enjoy the feeling of support and sense of extended family. Our Shepherd Group is responsible for the delivery of food donations at the church to Loudoun Interfaith Relief, and I have helped to deliver the food monthly since we took on this commitment. I have also volunteered at the Loudoun County Free Clinic. I believe that many of us have been truly blessed by God—we have housing, food, clothing, and the love of family and friends. There are many in our own community who are not as lucky. Helping those in need is an important role for us as Christians and as neighbors.

I think that in the past year St David’s has taken a really positive turn. Mary Kay has been a fantastic addition and we are lucky that God’s calling sent her to us. We are in better shape financially, and I think our covenant community has grown stronger. I also believe in taking a faithful and common sense approach to church finances and other issues, and I’d be honored to serve on St David’s vestry.
