I have had the pleasure of serving on the Vestry since June 2009, when I was appointed by the Vestry to serve as a replacement for Tim Bukta. With five vacant Vestry positions this year, continuity and Vestry experience is very important. I would appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve as a member of the Vestry for a full term.

My wife, Katherine, and I have been attending St. David’s since 2000. We have been in our family-based Shepherd Group for the past six years. We generally attend and thoroughly enjoy the 9:00 AM Service, Adult Homily, Wednesday Night Discipleship Classes with Rev. Mary Kay Brown, and Family Fellowship Nights. Our son, Connor, also attends the St. David's Preschool.

While at St. David's, I have been involved in the following:

  • Creation of the first Communications Team
  • Creation and maintenance of the first St. David's Web site
  • Implementation of the Web-based Parish Profile in support of the Rector search
  • Active involvement in the first Spiritual Gifts Ministry Team
  • Creation of the on-line Spiritual Gifts Assessment
  • Planning and execution of the "Get Connected" Ministry Fair
  • Managing the total redesign of the St. David’s Web site to the current sdlife.org design and content layout
  • Active member of the current volunteer Communications Ministry Team
  • Managing and maintaining the layout, content, calendar and functionality of the current sdlife.org Web site
  • Maintain the Mercer Festival site pre- and post-festival (in support of the Mercer Festival)
  • Enhancing the Web presence of the preschool
  • Enhancing the Web presence of the Parents of Preschoolers (POPS) organization
  • Supporting the planning and execution of the Rocknocerous Concert & Silent Auction online
  • Vestry member since June 2009

This work has given and continues to give me tremendous involvement and insight into the goings on across the entire spectrum of St. David’s.

Professionally, I have 17 years of experience in both large and small companies in performing the functions of financial analysis, business analysis and technology project/program management. I have been a program manager for eight years and am also a Project Management Institute (PMI) certified Project Management Professional (PMP.) For the past six years, I have been a program manager for San Diego-based Cubic Transportation Systems, Inc. implementing smart card-based Automated Fare Collection (e.g. SmarTrip) systems across the Washington/Baltimore regional rail and bus transit systems. I also manage the day-to-day operations of our Washington/Baltimore regional office.

Early in 2009, I felt an unplanned but tremendously strong call from God to be a part of the Vestry. I had the fortunate opportunity of attending the Vestry Retreat in February on behalf of the Communications Team and the parish as a whole. It was a tremendous experience and I felt warmly welcomed as an integral part of the retreat. Being part of the retreat also reinforced God’s call and my need and desire to further share my gifts of Service, Administration and Leadership (as well as logic and organization) as a member of the Vestry.

I feel extremely blessed to have been selected last year by the Vestry members to fill the open Vestry position and hope to continue to serve the parish well over the next three years in this capacity.

My priorities, if elected, would be to:

  • Continue to improve the short term and long term planning, organization and efficiency of the Vestry;
  • Continue to support and further empower Rev. Mary Kay Brown, Interim Rector;
  • Continue to improve Vestry communications with the Parish; and
  • Continue to improve Vestry support for all the ministries at St. David’s.
