El Hogar 2012 Mission Trip Set

ImageSt David’s annual mission trip to El Hogar in Tegucigalpa, Honduras will take place the week of February 25 – March 3. We will have an organizational meeting on Monday, October 3 at 7:00 pm in the Adult Education Room at St David’s. This will be for all those who are interested in traveling on the mission trip, or supporting the trip from home.

El Hogar de Amor y Esperanza (the home of love and hope) is a school and home to approximately 100 boys and girls ages 5-13 in the capital city of Honduras. It also provides vocational training for the children once they have completed their primary education. But El Hogar is so much more than a home and school. It is a place which transforms the lives of children. It provides love and gives hope to those who have never known them. It takes children who sleep on the street or on dirt floors and puts a roof over their heads and beds to sleep on. It takes children who eat from dumpsters and garbage cans and gives them good food to nourish them. But most importantly, El Hogar demonstrates to these children the profound love of God.

So why should you participate in this mission? There are a host of reasons, but it can be summed up by a statement made by Richard Decker, a parishioner who has been on multiple trips to El Hogar. “It allows us to see the face of God in one hundred very special boys and girls.” How often do you get to see the face of God?
