January of 2010 marked the 20^th Anniversary of the acceptance of St. David’s Episcopal Church as a mission church in the Diocese of Virginia.

Next month, we have dedicated the weekend of April 16 through 18 to the celebration of that anniversary, and St. David’s storied Legacy. The legacy began on this property in 1836 by Margaret Mercer, was revived as St. David’s Mission Church in 1990 under its founding Vicar, Fr. Stephen McWhorter, and together each of us helps write new chapters today and in years to come.

We begin Friday evening, April 16^th, at 7:30 pm with a Celebration of Thanksgiving Eucharist. The abundant gifts of this land, dedicated church officials and faithful worshipers have formed this community into a vibrant builder of God’s Kingdom, and for that much thanks is to be given. Please join us for this important service.

Saturday morning, April 17^th, at 8:30 am marks the beginning of the 2^nd Annual Mercer Festival 5K Race, Fun Run, and Post Race Party. Please go to www.mercerfestival.com for more details.

That same evening at 7 pm everyone is invited to a Founders’ Reception and Dinner to be held in the Mosby and Red Fox rooms at the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport. Please plan to break bread with us together with the founding Vicar, some of the founding families, other distinguished guests and past parishioners who will be joining us from all over the country. Tickets for this event are $40 per person and go on sale Sunday, March 14^th in the Narthex at the 20^th Anniversary table. Seating is limited so please purchase your tickets early.

Finally, please help us cap the celebration on Sunday morning, April 18^th, where we’ll begin with the popular Combined Service at 10 am followed immediately by the Parish Picnic Party on the church grounds. Live music, good food, games, prizes and moon bounces assure fun for the whole family. Tickets for the picnic are $15 per family and also available after services, beginning Sunday, March 14^th, at the 20^th Anniversary table. Also available for sale while they last, 20th Anniversary commemorative mugs.
