I received a second post from the same "Anonymous." This is an excerpt from the second "Anonymous" post: I find it interesting that despite your repeated requests for communication on this matter in Leek Soup and elsewhere, there are still zero comments. My earlier communication that dared to mention our obligation to the donor of the $300,000 for the chapel restoration was obviously censored. I wonder how many other comments that do not share your views on the path this parish is taking have been censored also. True communication among members of this covenant community must allow for dissent and new ideas. Communication truly must allow for dissent and new idea. I welcome them. However, after discussion with parish leaders, I have determined to no longer post communications from "Anonymous" contributors. Genuine dialogue involves real people. When someone posts an anonymous comment, it undermines our call to love. Since I have instituted this policy, the only anonymous post I have received was from the same contributor who made the comment above. I have suspended my policy this once in order to appeal to "Anonymous" to come out from the shadows. We have nothing to fear from open conversation with one another. Regarding the parishioner who contributed $300,000 for the Belmont Chapel fund: The Vestry is honoring its commitment to this contributor. Regarding the building of Belmont Chapel: The Vestry has a three-phased plan for the building of Belmont Chapel. Preliminary work is underway to prepare a proposal for approval from the county to begin building. Before the Vestry approves the building of Belmont Chapel, it wants confidence the parish will honor its obligations to pay off the debt for the sanctuary, which stands at 1.8 million dollars. The Vestry is not keen on encumbering the parish with additional mortgage debt. Anonymous, we welcome your comments, insight, challenges, and contributions. I respectfully request you share with us a name to associate with your ideas. |
