Here is an update on progress toward our Family Liturgy launch on March 4 -- this Sunday.

We have been calling for 50 families who are willing to step up and commit to participation in this service for the first 8 weeks. They will assure that we have a stable worshiping community and will give us regular feedback as we launch this service in real time.

To date 49 families have committed to support us. This is a great response.

Here is a final plea to that one last hold out whoever you may be: Join us. It is going to be a great experience for you and your family. It promises to be the best 45 minutes you can spend with your kids.

Here is what I am asking for from our 50 "charter families."

Liturgy requires the active participation of a community gathered together to pray. We need people willing to help us work out the kinks of this new service. More families will join us as we develop, no doubt. But we need people of commitment who will contribute a consistent presence to give this liturgy legs.

In additional to active participation we need feedback. We are developing a series of surveys that invites your perspective on four aspects of the liturgy. Specifically, The Environment: How does the space, the acoustics, and visual elements enhance or distract from this experience?

The Movement and Mechanics: How does the worship action in the space enhance or distract from this experience?

The Music: How does the quality and selection of music enhance or distract for this experience?

The Overall Experience: How does the whole thing seem to work?

Each week we will invite our 50 families to respond to a survey that will be posted online at the parish website. Each week will focus on one of the four categories listed above. The feedback we receive will enable us "to tweak” the service.

The prep work is done. I can sense growing excitement in our new 9:15 worship teams. With God's power at work in the faithfulness of this parish, we will see the fruit of six months of planning on this Sunday.

Boom or bust -- it is going to be blast.
