Rector's Blog: Let the Good Times Roll

Our Parish Annual Meeting and Celebration of Ministry takes place on Sunday, 5:00 PM, January 27.

The Annual Meeting is where the parish elects new Vestry members – our Board of Directors. The parish also receives the budget for the next year.

In some churches this is a boring, boring, sometimes laborious and sometimes contentious meeting. Not so with us. This year we are starting a new tradition. We are turning our Annual Meeting into a Celebration of Ministry.

The Lord blessesus to be fruitful and filled with abundant joy. So I say, “Let the Good Times Roll.”

Our theme this year is Mardi Gras. And we are going to have a party.

God is too good, and life is too short to spend even one minute in worry or fear or resentment or bitterness. Jesus died on the cross not for sadness, but for joy.

In the Gospel of John, the last words Jesus spoke from the cross were, “It is finished.”

When he came back on Resurrection Day, his first words were: “Let the Good Times Roll.”

If you are with easy reach of our parish, join us at 5:00 PM, and January 27. And the Let the Good Times Roll.
