In response to parishioners’ ideas at the Next Step meeting on Saturday, the Vestry approved the creation of three new committees; one for Welcoming, another for a Parish Directory and a third for Public Relations. 

Parishioners participating in these efforts will submit plans to become endorsed ministries of the Covenant Community.

Meanwhile, Vestry members are taking the many comments offered at the meeting at Stone Bridge High School, and are preparing a final report to the Parish.  That report, scheduled to be completed at the end of this month, will set the future of this Parish

Embracing the Future
It was that future that more than 80 parishioners embraced at the Next Step gathering.  90-year-old Betty Lowry said, “Please count me among those who are eager to welcome the new things that will be happening in the future.

“I’ve been here enough years to see we are definitely going in the right direction.”

The participants considered a range of responses to this community's current issues that were grouped into five areas: Building Community, Worship, Fundraising, Reduction in Expenses, and Final Solutions.

Welcoming
The potential Welcoming ministry would be focused on establishing a one-to-one approach to helping potential members develop a sense of belonging that would help them become actual members of this Covenant Community.

The current members of that committee are Jeanette Martini, Bobby Johnson, Kelly Blair, Margaret Anderson, Ginny Vecteau, and Mignon Williams.  They will meet later this month.

Public Relations
This potential ministry would have two purposes: an external focus on promoting St. David’s to the wider community, and an internal focus on enhancing communications between members.

The members of this committee are Mark Steffler, Lisa Martin, Jerry Mamrol.

Parish Directory
The goal of this committee would be to publish a parish directory.  Beyond contact information of parishioners, this directory would highlight the organization of parish ministries as well as the gifts and talents of parishioners.

Such information would help parishioners identify ministries in which they could participate.
