What does a typical day look like for a St. David’s Preschooler?
Classes follow a daily schedule, which may include the following activities:
- Welcoming Time - students arrive and are greeted by their teachers; students take care of their belongings and get settled into the class routine for the day.
- Circle/Greeting Time - teachers and students find out who is in class for the day, take care of “housekeeping activities” such as calendar, job charts and discuss what the plans are for the day.
- Worktime - “Plan-Do-Review” - children plan where they are going to play, they act upon that plan and then at the end of the time review with the class what happened during worktime.

- Small Group Time - the class is divided into two groups and the two teachers each work with one group. The groups may work on the same activity, such as an art activity or science project or may work on different activities. More individualized attention can be given to a child in a smaller setting and individual needs can be met.
- Snack Time - can be a time where a lot of socialization among preschoolers takes place. They enjoy “chatting” over a good granola bar and sharing information about themselves.
- Movement Time - is time to move around and be very active. This time is a combination of both free exploration movement and more structured activities such as playing games or playing with the parachute. On days the weather permits us to go outside our classes enjoy time on the playground. When our classes have to stay indoors, they are able to move and play in the Rainy Day Area.

- Story Time - Each day teachers read books that expand on the themes or units that their classes are studying. Language experience stories may be created using the students’ own creative ideas.
- Music Classes - are provided every other week by our Music teacher, but teachers sing with their classes throughout the day.
