By traditional measures, seniors can vary from 55 years-old to over 100 years. But their health and life styles are quite different. Seniors at St. David’s, like most other churches, can be divided into three main groups: 1) Those between 56 and 65 2) Those between 66 and 75 and 3) Those over 75. Many of the 50 seniors in Group 1 are still working. The 34 seniors in Group 2 are often involved in the multiple generations of their families. The 25 St. David’s seniors in Group 3 are often less mobile and somewhat physically constrained. They are often best served close to home. All persons objecting to these characterizations are asked to beat up the authors of this article, Groups 2 and 3 have limited availability in the daytime while the first group prefers activities in the daytime. Group 1 is generally very physically active while the middle group is less so but still not too constrained. Group 3 seniors over the age of 75 are often constrained by their physical agility and stamina. One long-standing component of our Senior Ministry has been our Monthly Senior Luncheon scheduled on the third Tuesday of each month. We met, shared a meal, and listened to an interesting speaker or entertainer. For a variety of reasons over the past year, attendance at these luncheons has steadily diminished. Over the last couple of months, attendance at each Senior luncheon has dwindled to fewer than a dozen. We have reached the point where, from an attendance perspective, these luncheons are no longer viable. Senior Ministry leadership will host the Final Senior luncheon on It is important to understand that this Covenant Community continues to be committed to a robust Senior Ministry. As an example, we will continue the twice a month Eucharist Services in the Leisure World Chapel, which reaches parishioners and others close to where they live. We are also looking at possible social activities on a less frequent basis.
