ImageThe first of the Festival Events approaches as the St. David’s Belmont Chapel Golf Tournament tees off in early October. The event will also include a fajita dinner, raffle, and a silent auction. The goal of the tournament is fun and fellowship, and it will be time that the community can get together and celebrate the faith it has demonstrated over the past year.

At 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2008, golfers will tee off at Stoneleigh Golf Course in Round Hill, VA. Prizes await the first, seconds and third place teams, and individual efforts may be rewarded with a chance to win a car with a hole-in-one on number six. There are also numerous chances to win additional raffle prizes. Thanks to event sponsors Contemporary Electrical Services INC and Cassidy Pinkard Colliers, a longest drive competition and closest to the pin challenge will also take place. Single players and others who could not form a complete foursome are welcome as well, and will be assigned into ad hoc foursomes for the tournament.

The event is Captains Choice, so previous golf experience is not as critical as one might think. Golfers requiring a bit more help will also have the opportunity to purchase Mulligans, or do-overs. The round is expected to take about five hours.

Enthusiasm for the event is already bubbling up. As Darren Prosper put it, “This tournament is exciting for so many reasons. First, playing with people from our local community and really reaching out to let those who may not have been invited to St. David's learn more about us through our people and community activities. I also look forward to actually getting together and having some fun as we muddle through playing a game handed down over many generations--with the understanding that we are all ‘just hacks.’ It’s going to be a great day, regardless of the score!”

The organizers have planned a fajita dinner to start at 7:00 p.m. with a cash bar. If you would like to take part, but are not inclined towards rounds of golf, dinner tickets can be purchased for $25. Afterwards, the event will close with a silent auction. Numerous items have been donated by St. David’s Shepherd Groups, parish families and local businesses.

Space for the event is limited. Proceeds will support new and ongoing ministries at St. David’s as well as the Belmont Chapel fund. The cost is $95/per golfer including dinner. The organizers would also like to thank the Hole Sponsors: Keane Enterprises and Melody Rosenblatt—Real Estate Consultant.
