Dear Parishioners of St. David's, I am so excited to be joining you on Monday, February 2, 2009, as your new interim rector. I thank you for the trust you have placed in me, and look forward to working together with you to continue the rich and varied work of the St. David's faith community. I know St. David's to be a church of dedicated, faithful people, excited about serving God and each other and committed to following where God leads. I look forward to getting to know each of you and sharing with each other our journeys of faith. A little bit about me: I was born and raised near Pittsburgh PA. My first career was as a medical social worker, doing hospice care in Pennsylvania and then in Alaska. I met and married my husband in Alaska, and our children were born there. We moved to California in 1999 and then to Ashburn in 2002. I remember driving down the old dirt carriage road to St. David's in 2002 and wondering where I was going! I found in St. David's a beautiful sanctuary, a rich legacy, innovative new ministry, and a true spiritual home. I enjoyed working part-time here helping to develop a spiritual gifts ministry. I was blessed to be sent to seminary by the St. David's community in 2005. My training at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria included a year at the Washington National Cathedral, and valuable formative time at St. Paul's in Alexandria, where I was called as assistant rector after graduation in May 2008. I know many of you from my years at St. David's prior to my entering seminary. Many others of you have come to St. David's in the past three years, and I look forward to getting to know you and sharing ministry together. God has called each of us to this place and time to learn and grow and work together. I feel blessed to be part of this very special covenant community. In Christ, |
