My name is Scott Steuart and my family and I have been blessed to be part of the St. David's community since we moved to Northern Virginia almost 10 years ago. Having grown up in a strong Christian household, it was always my understanding that church membership extended far beyond Sundays. As a father and husband, I have tried to model this during our time at St. David's, being a Sunday School teacher, lay reader and Wednesday night Bible study participant.

My thoughtful decision to submit my name for the Vestry is a further extension of this commitment. For all that St. David's provides my family - spiritual teaching, a beautiful house of worship, a strong faith community - I feel it is incumbent on me to not only give back financially, but to give of my time and talents. Having been in the pharmaceutical industry for the last 20 years, spanning roles in Sales, Leadership Development and most recently Corporate Leadership, I am confident that I have the capabilities that would most benefit St. David's over the next few years.

The challenges for our Vestry over the next few years will be numerous, but I think they all hinge around a central theme - given the amount of change we have experienced over the last 2 years, can we align around a single vision for St. David's that continues to meet our parishioners needs while still growing to be the "aspirational" faith community that we all look to become. My personal "aspirational" goals for St' David's would include:

  • Parishioner Engagement - Our church can only be as great as our parishioners. How can we ensure that everyone understand the benefits and opportunities that St. David's offers?
  • Adult Education - Real growth for any faith community stems from a strong understanding of God's word. How can we best support this?
  • Community Outreach - We are a growing church is one of the fastest growing communities in the country. We also have real suffering and need within that same community. How can we best serve our local Ashburn - Leesburg community?
  • Fiscal Security - Are we being the very best stewards of our God given resources?

While our church's "asperational goals" are yet to be determined, I am confident that if we listen to our members, counsel and challenge each other, and most importantly, always pray, we will become the Church God's calls us to be.
