“Interfaith Sunday” this week and next Look for members of the Faith Shepherd Group handing out red grocery bags. Please take a bag to fill with non-perishable food items during the week. Even if you don't get a red bag, you can still bring a grocery bag with food back next Sunday to church and place it in the wagon in the Narthex. During the week, a second Shepherd Group will deliver that wagon of food to the Interfaith’s headquarters and “store” in Leesburg. Giving from Abundance in 2007 The exact donations of food added up to 7,045 pounds. Half of those were donated during the “Abundance Month” of November. August was the next most generous month with 500 pounds distributed in almost 100 “red bags” or reasonable substitutes. “It was so important that children not having their school lunch during the Summer were able to make that up thanks to parishioners’ gifts.” While LIR helps Loudoun families in need, Bud Eliot, President of the LIR Board of Directors, emphasizes that “the goal of LIR is to provide support and assistance so that families can live in our community without a need for our assistance. “We have had success in this goal, but so many new families and individuals are constantly challenged in their lives....We are grateful for those who choose to provide food for today and hope for tomorrow."
