My career has taken us all over the world. When we moved to Ashburn, we made a conscious decision to put down roots and become more involved in our community. The two paths this took for me were St. David’s and Scouts. I served as a Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master in Ashburn Troop 1154. My wife Ellen and I joined St. David’s in 2000 and were confirmed in the Episcopal faith in 2001. Our daughter Marina was born in 2003 and baptized at St. David’s in 2004. She now attends St. David’s pre-school. We currently participate in a Shepherd Group and I am in training to become a Shepherd Group leader. At St. David’s, I have served as a Care Manager and Lay Eucharistic Minister for several years, contributing to the leadership of the Pastoral Care Ministry for much of that time. Ellen was responsible for Martha’s Table and is now leading the Prayer Tree. We have also provided support for the Newcomer’s Ministry and I am an active participant in the Men’s Ministry. This Fall I participated in St. David’s visioning process. It was an inspiring experience, providing insights into our community and motivating me to run for Vestry. I have been blessed with the gifts of Leadership, Administration, and Mercy and would like to continue to use them in service to St. David’s. My focus over the next three years will be on enriching our children’s ministries, broadening the reach of adult education, and expanding opportunities for mission service in our own community. By focusing on our children, increasing our awareness of Christ manifest in the world, and making Christ known to others, we will strengthen our relationships with each other and the Lord. I fully endorse St. David’s vision and look forward to the challenge of building our Covenant community together with the help of the Holy Spirit. |
