Cell Tower Approved
Written by Jim Tracy

ImageAt its annual meeting January 27, this Covenant Community approved the beginning of a process to eventually place a cell tower on the property, pending approval by the County.

After that vote, the Parish is proceeding with the agreement with Clear Signal Towers LLC.  In addition to the $1,000 monthly rent that will be paid once the Tower is approved and constructed, St. David’s will receive a $10,000 bonus.

The tower will be approximately 75 feet tall from the ground to the top of the cross.  The bells shown are decorative only.  The antennas for the cell phone companies are hidden behind the white panels.  In addition to the tower, a one story building within a cyclone fence will also be constructed in the northwest corner of the property in the area that is grass today.

The enclosure will be surrounded on all four sides by bushes and trees in yard buffers.  The area included has been marked out for the Annual Meeting in colored flags so parishioners might get some perspective of the installation.

In addition to the monthly rent, Clear Signal will pay all expenses for County approval, constructions, landscaping, etc.  They also pay all operating costs for the tower and ground support equipment.  If the lease is terminated by either party Clear Signal will remove all structure and equipment and will restore the ground to its original condition.

If the County disapproves the application to build the tower, the agreement can be terminated by St David’s and/or Clear Signal.  The application process takes about 12-18 months.  If the application is approved, Clear Signal will begin construction within six months.  It would normally take 4-6 months to complete all construction and landscaping.
