Involvement --> Connection --> Commitment

The Men’s Shepherd Group became the latest to test the Truth or Consequences workshop on Tuesday, March 25.  Throughout the evening, the participants recalled how someone asked them to become more involved in the life of the Covenant Community; and how that involvement led to a deeper connection to the members of that community; which led an increased commitment to that community.

Currently there are 537 households who are listed as “members” of this community.  Out of that number, 237 families have committed themselves to being together on Sunday, supporting each other during the week through prayer or participation in a Shepherd Group, and financially supporting the ministries of the Parish.

“Those of us involved in this shepherd group understand how deeply connected we are to each other, and the commitment that this calls for,” said John Knox, a coordinator of the Men’s Shepherd Group, and one of the facilitators of the workshop.

“What we need to do now is to reach out on Sunday to those in church we don’t recognize, and invited them into this chain of involvement, connection and commitment.”

“Participating in this workshop was empowering,” said Darren Prosper.  “It helped me understand that the issues facing this thriving community are not insurmountable.  We in this group know that St. David’s is a special place, and that it’s worth investing in.

“Now we need to help each and every family member feel more connected to this special place.”

At the end of the workshop, the Men’s Shepherd Group embraced a challenge for each member to invite five other people to attend an upcoming Truth or Consequences workshop.  But you can sign up right now, and let us know which one the more than 40 facilitators you would like to work with.
