The workshop was designed by the Vestry, Staff, and parishioners Carol Bonifant and Lisa Martin. There have now been two test runs with shepherd groups. And there have been two reactions: A sense of urgency and a sense of empowerment. Urgency “It's not a pleasant feeling but you know what you have to do. You can't hide from this truth. “Now unlike a sports game,” Patrick continued, “We have a loving God that participates in the game with us and will lead us to where we need to go. He will inform each one of us what we will need to do.” Empowerment “I don’t want the leaders to do this without me! I want to be a part of it!” said carol Bonifant. “I don’t want to hide from the truth any more than I want to shirk from my responsibilities.” “Our future and our legacy is being held in the palm of all of our hands,” said Jenn Cohen, “and there isn’t anything that will make you feel more empowered and more filled with excitement and energy than going to a T or C workshop and hearing the simplicity of the matter at hand.” The success of this workshop depends on the participation of the whole Covenant Community. “We share a home at St. David's regardless of our time in the parish, 20 years or 20 days,” said Mark Steffler. “It is our Church home, and while legacy plays an instructive roll, it really isn't about how we got here, so much as it is about where we are going. “The workshop puts us in charge of the facts and therefore the decision making process. We, the parish, become the leaders, each coming together in small groups to make our views and direction known.” Be a part of the Community by signing up now. |
