Pentecost Festival 2008
Written by Staff

ImageAt the first Pentecost, reported in the New Testament book of Acts of the Apsotles, the Church was born as a community in covenant with Jesus Christ and with each other.

So, it’s time once again for the annual “Pentecost Festival,” when this Covenant Community celebrates its support for each other, and the joy we find in each others’ fellowship.  It is also an excellent opportunity to show ourselves off to guests.

This year’s festival will happen on May 18.  Pentecost Sunday falls this year on May 11.  But with the 11th also being Mother’s Day, the Festival is scheduled for the following Sunday.  It will be a day of good food and hands-on attractions for kids.

ImageFood will be served in two shifts, after the 9:15 and 10:45 services.  But feel free to stay as long as you wish.

The Festival will also be your best opportunity to support the REACH mission team of youth and adults.  The Team has a goal of raising $3,000 to support its trip to West Virginia in July.  Be sure to stop by their table and find our how you can be part of the REACH Team.

Help Needed
As the Pentecost Festival is a celebration of Covenant Community, it needs the Community to make it work.

To protect the food and provide shade for picnicers, 5-6 canopy tents are needed.  If you can provide one, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it at the church office, 703-729-0570.

ImageHamburgers and hot dogs will be provided.  But we need salads, side dishes and desserts.  If your last name begins with a letter from A-K, please bring a dessert.  Those from L-Z are asked to bring a salad or side dish.

Also, please bring a digital camera, so that we can present this joyous celebration of community to the world on our website.

Finally, please invite your friends and neighbors to see what a special place St. David’s is.
