VBS

St. David's offers Vacation Bible School (VBS) every summer to help children engage with the Church in a fun way.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a ministry outreach provided to educate children about God. Each year's program takes children on an exciting journey where they learn to trust God no matter what situation life brings, know God is always with them, and feel confident in sharing God's love through Jesus Christ.

VBS: Camp Firelight

It’s time for a summer adventure with God for children ages 4 -13 (youth who have completed 5th grade are invited to volunteer). VBS: Camp Firelight runs Mon, June 17th to Thurs, June 20th, 9:30am – 12:30pm. Children will explore timeless bible stories that demonstrate how people trusted in God in the face of their own fears and went on to do great things in God’s name. They will make new friends, while exploring bible stories through hands-on activities, music, crafts, and play learning.

“Whenever I’m afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 53:6.

Adult volunteers are needed to run this program safely and successfully. Help is needed in all areas: prep, decorations, planning, crew leaders, and teaching. If we do not have enough volunteers by April 15th we will not be able to have VBS this year. Please reach out to mcarey@sdlife.org with any questions or to get involved.

VBS 2023 "Hero Hotline" Wrap-up

Last week St. David's hosted 55 campers for VBS ages 3-5th grade exploring the love of Jesus with Bible story heroes. These stories were explored through music, art, prayer, storytelling, drama and play. We were blessed with an Intergenerational group of volunteers ranging from 1st time junior counselors to 80 years old! 5 of the adult volunteers were over 60! Intergenerational ministry brings children and adults together with opportunities to interact, build relationships, share perspectives and glean wisdom. New friendships were formed, and old friendships strengthened. Thank you volunteers! Wednesday evening families were invited to an evening of VBS sing-a-long songs, dinner and fellowship fun. In addition, the outreach mission for VBS was donating fresh fruit and vegetables to Loudoun Hunger Relief. These VBS Heroes and their families donated 186 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to our brothers and sisters in need in the community. It was a great week filled with the love of Jesus and discipleship.
