Inclement Weather Announcements
In the event of inclement weather, the congregation will be notified by 7 am on Sunday. We will update the website, send out an email as well as a Facebook notification if we are closed. We are also registered with NBC 4 and WTOP to announce any closings or delays. Happy winter!
Ministry Expos in February!
Stop by the Ministry Expos in February after all worship services to learn about the many opportunities to serve. Learn something new and share your gifts in 2020. There will be tables set up in the narthex with leaders from every ministry of the church that can help you find a place to invest your gifts and talents in the life of our community. Find out how you can get involved, get to know others who have the same gifts as you and serve the church in meaningful ways. Don't miss this opportunity to find the perfect place for you to participate in what God is doing at our church!
Sunday School Outreach Collection
As part of our Sunday School program the children will participate in a monthly service project, as they live the gospel and love our neighbors. On Sunday, February 16th they will be making cold weather packets for our brothers and sisters in need. The items needed are: socks, hats, hand warmers, individual tissue packets, granola bars, Chapstick, gloves, mittens, small water bottles, $5 -10 McDonald's gift cards. Many of these items can be found at the Dollar Store. There will be a box in the narthex and in the office beginning on 1/26. Thank you in advance for your giving hearts. If you have any questions, please email email@example.com.
"My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together."
--- Desmond Tutu
We celebrate Black History Month as a time to remember the important contributions and achievements of African Americans to our nation's history that include science, sports, the arts, civil rights and politics. We especially remember the great contributions made by African Americans to the life of our Church in this country. During the month of February various music selections, Prayers of the People and the Sunday School curriculum on 2/23 honor our brothers and sisters in Christ. Join us as we celebrate Black History Month recalling the achievements and pain of the past and look forward to a future bright with the hope of a greater unity and harmony among people of all races.

You Are Enough
Lead by Fr. Will, we are gauging interest for a Lenten discussion group for High School students. This biblically based group would discuss real topics such as relationships, anxiety, trust, self-advocacy and being enough in a never enough world. Many conversations will be aimed for older High School but all high school students would be welcome. To launch this group during Lent, we would need at least five participants willing to commit. Tentatively, we are thinking about 7 pm at Whole Foods on Thursdays during Lent (late February to early April). Email or tell Fr. Will if you are interested.
Lent Messy Church on 3/13
Join us on Friday, 3/13 from 5:30 to 7 pm for our Mess Church Service! Messy Church explores a biblical theme through hands on creative experiences for all ages. A short interactive celebration time of story, prayer and song lead into the Eucharist. Finally, the worship experience culminates in a meal together. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org by 3/11.
You are Invited to Episcopal 101!
Do you come from another faith background? Do you have questions about how the Episcopal Church is similar and different from other denominations or faiths? Join us on 3/29 from 12:15 to 1:45 pm. This one-time class will provide an overview of our tradition - history, theology and worship - and provide plenty of time for questions and answers. Call or email email@example.com to sign up.
Hope, Healing and Compassion
If you or someone you love is struggling with drug or alcohol use, don't let the fear of stigma, shame or embarrassment stand in the way of asking for help. Drug or alcohol use is not a moral failure. If you are trying to stop or limit use and can't, if you are experiencing withdrawal, damaging relationships, failing to meet responsibilities at work, school or home, find yourself craving drugs or alcohol or need to use more to get the same effects, help is available. Talk to your doctor, attend an AA or NA meeting here at St. David's. Loudoun County offers same day walk-in screening in Leesburg, Monday through Friday, 9 - 2. Call 703-771-5155 for more information.
Journey in Faith Class
Do you have questions about the Episcopal faith --- what we believe, and why we do what we do? If you would like to know more, sign up for our Inquirer's class, beginning on 4/26 and running for 7 weeks on Sundays from 12:15 to 1:45 pm. This class on history, theology and worship will offer preparation for confirmation by the Bishop on 6/21.
Mark your calendars! VBS will be held the week of June 15 - 19. Stay tuned for information on registration and volunteering for another great week! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
