Christmas is almost here. As the Holy Night approaches, we remember all those figures of Advent who have helped us prepare: John the Baptist, calling us to the wilderness, Mary with her revolutionary song of joy, Elizabeth, Zechariah and Joseph all in one way or another positioned on the threshold of new beginnings. Make room. Something is going to happen. God is at work.
Almost Christmas, and on the longest night of the year, take a breath. Take a moment and linger on the threshold before welcoming the Christ. Rest in the dark, savoring the promise of light. Something is happening. God is at work. Hope is at hand.
Wishing you wonder and joy we celebrate the hope of the Christ Child.
