Children & Youth Ministry

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs."

— Matthew 19:14

Children's Ministry

Children of all ages are welcome at St. David's Episcopal Church! Every Sunday at 10 am, our blended worship engages kids with upbeat music, a brief children's sermon, and a welcoming atmosphere. Your child will be a part of worship while parents don't worry about saying "shhh."

If you are interested in joining us for family events follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and/or subscribe to our Happenings Newsletter.

Children In Church

Serve

St. David's children play an active role in our service!  They serve and participate in the processional, the readings, serving on the altar, coming to sit on the altar steps for the children's message, seashells and you will often see children dancing at the recessional.

Children are welcome to Greet at the front door before service. Just show up to help!

Seashells

After the children's message, all children are invited to take a seashell. When it comes time for the Confession, children are invited to place their seashells over their heart, sharing silently with God any mistakes or concerns from their week. The children are then invited up to the altar steps to place their seashells in the bucket. The water is poured over the seashells as a symbolic reminder and learning opportunity that God always forgives us and we are always forgiven and renewed.

Soft Space

Our soft space is a way to invite and make room for our young and wiggly children of God during our Sunday worship. We feel it's important to make room for the youngest of our parishioners, assuring our families that there is a place for everyone at St. David's, no matter your age. The Soft Space is a comfortable and loving place where our children know they are welcomed, loved, and cherished by God.

Cultivating a safe environment is essential for youth formation. At St. David's, we follow the guidelines set forth by the Episcopal Church in the United States of America and the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Here are links to relevant documents:
