Meet Our Team
Reverend Stephen P. Hagerty
The Rev. Stephen Hagerty is a baptized Christian (since 1974) and an ordained Episcopal priest (since 2015) and started as rector of St. David’s Episcopal Church & School in Ashburn, VA on December 1, 2024.
He has worked as a paralegal, social worker, office manager, copy editor, and registrar, among other things. The youngest of five siblings, he is also a fanatical devotee of the television show, The Golden Girls, which is filled with humor and theology, his two favorite subjects.
He is married to exactly one amazing man, Fred, and is a proud human companion to God’s greatest non-human animal, two beloved Chihuahua mixes, Chico and Rosie. When not watching Netflix, he managed to get a few degrees, most recently his M.Div. from Yale Divinity School and Diploma in Anglican Studies from Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, both in 2015.
He understands the Christian gospel in six words: “Because of Jesus, we're totally fine."

"I love both church work and the work of the church. I am passionate about ministry, children’s spirituality, pastoral care, digital ministry in this new era of being church, preaching and sharing the Good News. I love to spend time with my family, my friends, and my dog Guinness. When not working I love to ride my bike, hike, bake, explore VA wineries, watch Netflix and write.
I love the Lord. I trust the Holy Spirit. I am obsessed with all kinds of liturgy, traditional - thinking out of the box and creating with the spirit. God is truly present in all things and in all people! I think it is ok to love theology and wrestle with it. I think it is ok to love the sacraments and necessary to walk the walk of what they teach us if we are to grow as Christians and be the church in the world.
I believe that we can rejoice when we run into problems and trails, for we know they help up develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope does not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with love. Not sure about this? Ask the Holy Spirit. She will show you."

Kimberly Gauthier
Parish Administrator

My name is Kimberly Gauthier, and I’m excited to bring my extensive administrative and community-focused experience to my new role as Parish Administrator at St. David’s Episcopal Church & School. I currently live in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, though I grew up in Reston, Virginia. I am presently employed as an Administrative Assistant for Computer Enhancement Systems in Frederick, Maryland.
Over the years, I’ve developed strong administrative skills working in a variety of office environments. My career began in the late 1980s with Kelly Services in Reston, where I had the opportunity to serve in many different office settings as a temporary employee. This experience paved the way for my later work in property management, where I managed listings, handled accounting for up to 250 properties (plus another 100 at a new location), and worked closely with property owners, tenants, and contractors. Earning my Virginia Real Estate license allowed me to play a central role in helping families find new homes, a responsibility I found deeply rewarding.
One of the most fulfilling chapters of my career was serving as a Church Secretary at a Presbyterian Church. At the time, I was raising my oldest son as a single mom, and this local position not only provided me with the flexibility to be there for him, but also offered me a warm, close-knit community. I revered every aspect of the role, from teaching Sunday School for the 3rd graders, running our annual yard sale, to helping organize Vacation Bible School. While I’m not the best at coaching budding actors, I have immense respect for those who share their talents and knowledge.
In addition to my administrative and property management work, I have also dedicated many years to childcare, running my own in-home daycare in Oregon and Hamilton, Virginia. Impacting the lives of young children and guiding them through life’s ups and downs has been an honor and a privilege.
I’m also proud to be a mother to three boys—now 32, 20, and 19 years old. My oldest is a small business owner in Centreville, Virginia, and my younger two are pursuing their studies at George Mason University and West Virginia University, respectively. They are my pride and joy, and I look forward to the day my new colleagues might have the chance to meet them.
Ultimately, what I find very fulfilling is the satisfaction of supporting others in the furtherance of their goals, to streamline, a task or overcome a hurdle. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself, and I’m excited to get to know you all.
